Roy Martell Mason: Roy Mason was born in 1886 in Gilbert Mills New York. Mason was primarily self-taught artist. His best friend was Chauncy Ryder who was also his critic. Mason primarily painted hunting and fishing scenes. He did illustrations for magazines including Collier’s, True and Reader’s Digest. He was a member of the National Academy, Salmagundi Club, and the American Watercolor Society. He died in 1972 in La Jolla, CA
